Q2 2026 is the shortest funding-decision window of the year. Most foundation rounds close mid-May to mid-July. Spring Statement (27 Mar): "no new departmental upliftls". Don't wait for new pots — mine the existing channels harder.
What's flowing right now
Spring Statement reaffirmed fiscal-headroom constraint. Departmental budgets flat-or-declining real terms FY26-27.
NLCF Awards-for-All processing 12→16 weeks. NLHF "Levelling Up for Culture" reapplications open Q3.
Lankelly Chase wind-down nearly complete. Tudor Trust criteria refresh due Q2. Database from 2024 — half stale.
Tide still rejects CICs (April 2026). Co-op / Unity / Metro / Triodos remain CIC-open. Lloyds "Enable" closed Q2.
UKSPF Year 3 allocations being published this quarter. Single-settlement deals (GMCA, WMCA, Liverpool, West Yorks) absorb CSR-adjacent spend.
360Giving Q1 2026 data drop pending. Once published — run a who-funded-whom matching pass against your mission keywords.
Pattern of the day
Friction is the moat. Wind-downs + headroom-tightening + Tier 5 inertia = a quiet squeeze. Founders who build relationships with 2–3 specific gatekeepers in 2026–27 will out-perform founders who keep applying to 30 cold pots.
What to grab this week
Pull your CIC's mission to 5 keywords. Search 360Giving Q4 2025 dataset for "CIC + [your keywords]". List every funder who gave to a CIC like yours.
Apply to Awards for All if you haven't in 12 months. Window wider than autumn.
If your CIC banks with Tide — switch to Co-op, Unity, Metro, or Triodos. The dispute is structural.
If you're in a single-settlement combined-authority area — read your CA's Year 3 UKSPF priorities. Write a 1-paragraph alignment statement.
Build a relationship with one Tier 4 foundation officer over 6 months. Worth more than 10 cold applications.
